24 hours on Lake Orsasjön

01

Afternoon · Out on the lake

You’ve just picked up the breakfast bags from the hotel. Now you’re in the canoe, pushing off from the jetty as Lake Orsasjön opens up ahead of you. Stroke by stroke, you get closer to the floating hotel room. A sense of calm spreads through your body, and the longing to simply be becomes real.

02

Arrival

You paddle up to the room, tie up the canoe and step inside. A soft shimmer greets you as the water reflects on the walls. You sit down on the edge of the bed and take a deep breath, looking out over the lake that surrounds your home for the night.

“You check in with the very first paddle stroke. The rest of the world stays behind at the jetty.”

The view

Outside, it’s like a painting. And the gentle rocking of the room on the water is a small reminder that you’re not sleeping on solid ground.

Evening swim

You take a swim in the evening sun. It’s late summer and the air is warm. Soon you’ll paddle back to the hotel for dinner, before darkness settles over the lake.

Late evening

Paddling back after dinner, you can’t resist gliding around the lake a little longer. The air has cooled and the water laps softly against the hull.

Morning

The next morning, breakfast takes its time. You open the paper bag and find homemade bread, fresh fruit and a cold bottle of juice, among other things.

Heading back

After breakfast you step out one last time and untie the canoe. You feel how good it has been to leave the everyday noise behind, stay close to nature, and simply be.

“Welcome to Hotell Kungsholmen – let a room you can only reach by paddle give you the kind of rest you won’t find in everyday life.”
